The Gumball 3000, as it is known, began life on British beaches, but has become a truly global event, with the course shifting every year to keep things interesting. The rally, that has not avoided controversy because its foundation in 1999, is popular with celebrities and wealthy civilians, all of whom drive the car of their decision onto the public street course in pursuit of glory or the excursion of a lifetime. How then, will a project that intends to inject a number of the Gumball Rally’s characteristic chaos into the new fare? When I heard of the triple-header release, I didn’t have a clue what to expect. The Gumball Rally appeared a very “out there” choice of cooperation for such a strait-laced brand, but one I had been anticipating seeing. I sort of expected that Armin Strom goes down the wacky Swatch course and totally trick out these timepieces with daring, goofy images and eye-popping fonts rather than the (understandably) more controlled approaches of brands such as Omega with the America’s Cup Watch or Tag Heuer using the Formula One bits. What resulted was something in between that could either hit the right balance or leave you feeling a bit flat. The problem with pulling off a celebratory collection in this way is getting enough occasion branding into the piece with no becoming a grotesque billboard. With this collection, Armin Strom have managed to incorporate the Gumball 3000 script logo into the design, but does this work? Do these watches have sufficient Gumball to send the ideal message, or does the labelling jar a lot with its fancy framework? Let us take a look at the collection, piece by piece to learn.
To celebrate the successful second season of the Armin Strom Watches For Sale Replica Sailing Team, Armin Strom created a limited commemorative edition of its Gravity collection and offered the team’s skipper Flavio Marazzi the first of 32 watches produced for the series. Armin Strom owner Serge Michel presented the special timepiece to Marazzi during a ceremony on July 10 at the Lake Garda competition in Malcesine, Italy.
Striking black and orange colorations on Gravity Sailing’s dial and strap match the design of the team’s catamaran and its sail. This automatic timepiece, with 5-day power reserve, small seconds and off-centre time indications comes in a stainless steel and black PVD case measuring 43,4 mm in diameter. The micro rotor of the calibre AMR13 is visible from the dial side.
The watch is fitted with a black alligator strap and stainless steel PVD black ardillon buckle. It is delivered with an additional black rubber strap. A double-fold clasp in stainless steel PVD black is available on option.
Currently the Armin Strom Sailing Team is in fourth place in the Great Cup 32 2016, which is held across Europe. The catamaran reaches speeds of up to 40 knots and appears to soar airborne when at top velocity. Skipper and helmsman Marazzi is Switzerland’s most successful sailing competitor, a four-time Olympian, and an Armin Strom ambassador.
